Inquiry Project: What started WWI?

Emmit and Nolan’s recent inquiry project angled toward history, not science. They got interested in the start of World War I.

I asked them some questions about their project.

Q: What got you interested in this question?

Together: Lots of people know about what started WWII — the Nazi invasions in Europe and the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, but no one we knew really knows much about what started WWWI.

Q: Did you know before you started?

Together: We had no clue about the start of WWI!

Q: What was the most surprising thing you discovered?

Together: The assassination. Neither of us had heard anythign about the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. When we read about this we were both surprised. We also didn’t know anything about Serbia or that part of the world before.

Cool stuff!
